UWEZO Youth Empowerment is a youth led disabled persons organisation (DPO), run by and for young disabled people in Rwanda.
Volunteer Services Overseas (VSO) Rwanda was the first funder for UWEZO since 2013. UWEZO was among a Rwandan DPOs that were awarded the INSPIRED Grants between 2014-2016 and as a result implemented the “CONNECT Project” that provided internship opportunities for 45 youth graduates with disabilities by which 26 secured employment and many more are getting opportunities progressively.
VSO’s grant did not only support employability opportunities for youth graduates with disabilities but it also made the world know that UWEZO exists.

UWEZO Youth Empowerment is a youth led disabled persons organisation (DPO), run by and for young disabled people in Rwanda.
The Disability Rights Fund (DRF) has been funding UWEZO since 2015 to implement a project entitled “Access to work and employment for youth with disabilities.
Under this project, UWEZO conducted a baseline survey on barriers to work and employment for youth with disabilities in 2015 which serves as a baseline in addressing employment related issues in Rwanda. The partnership with the National Youth Council was also realized through the activities implemented under this partnership.
DRF continues to build the skills of UWEZO and its members in addressing issues related to work and employment by engaging with relevant stakeholders both public, civil society and the private sector at national and international levels.
